"The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it, no paper notices on downtown posts and billboards, no mentions or advertisements in local newspapers. It is simply there when yesterday it was not. The towering tents are striped in white and black, no golds and crimsons to be seen."

The basic summary of this book is that two magicians who have different styles of practising magic set their two best pupils against each other to find out which among them is superior. Their arena for this fight is the magical night circus. But the twist in the tale is that the competitors don't know who they are fighting against and how long the completion is supposed to last.

I was completely absorbed into the world of magic and romance. Marco and Celia are our two lead protagonists whose journey we follow. The story is like a web everyone and everything is connected with an intricate storyline that made me fall in love with each and every character. There are so many POVs and time jumps throughout the book that it gets confusing and we don't understand the importance of these sometimes insignificant events. But as we come to the end Morgenstern has done a fabulous job of binding all of those loose ends into an intricately detailed story.

"You may tell a tale that takes up residence in someone’s soul, becomes their blood and self and purpose. That tale will move them and drive them and who knows that they might do because of it, because of your words. That is your role, your gift."

I loved the most about The Night Circus was the atmosphere. The ambience surrounding the circus and festivities felt tangible and real which ignited a deep desire to experience the circus. The writing has its own life and the way the author describes each and every small nuance is mesmerising. It sometimes feels like you are the one taking a walk in this enchanting circus
The Night Circus has become one of my favourite books and I highly recommend it to everybody!!
